Team UPLIFT is a diverse group with deep, far-ranging experience. We came together to lift up feasible solutions supported by the community that can be funded and implemented. Our core team consists of Gensler, Arup, and Margie Ruddick Landscape (MRL), and we are supported by HR&A Advisors, Stamen Design, UCLA’s Institute of the Environment and Sustainability (IoES), and Stanford University’s Sustainable Urban Systems (SUS) group.
Updates from team uplift
Vallejo is one of the most diverse communities in the Bay Area, the state of California, and the nation—and the community embraces its diversity and sees it as a key to its future. Vallejo is home to both the most affordable housing in the region and the hottest housing market. A vibrant, hard-working, innovative small city, Vallejo sits in a beautiful, strategic position, economically and ecologically, at the mouth of the Napa River, the gateway to the world famous wine region, and a transportation and trade crossroads at the mouth of the Delta.
Team Uplift is honored to have been chosen to work with the community of Vallejo to design innovative solutions for a socially, economically, and environmentally resilient future. Our approach is community-centered. Our team’s design process over the next several months will rely on listening to local voices to inspire real transformation. Together with the community, Uplift will create and manage an inclusive design process to ensure that the concepts that emerge reflect community needs and can be funded and implemented.
Vallejo’s ongoing transformation is a powerful story of resilience. Our approach will be to help find solutions that positively catalyze and strengthen that transformation socially, economically, and ecologically.
We hope to help power the shift to a resilient, sustainable future for Vallejo over the next century.
