The Gehl Institute proudly presents... Public Life Intersections: Learning from the Bay
Join the Gehl Institute this spring as they host the first ever US-based masterclass, in collaboration with Gehl and SPUR. Using the Bay Area as our studio, we’ll learn about the design, policy, and critical issues shaping public life there. For three fun and informative days, you’ll attend talks, trainings, debates, on-site learnings, and bicycle tours. We’ve teamed up with our partners at Gehl and SPUR to deliver a program that traverses the many strengths and challenges of the region, including its vibrant public spaces, rising sea levels, sprawling suburbs, and housing shortage. We’ll move through San Francisco, Silicon Valley, and Oakland, hearing from experts on how design and observation shapes the public realm.
We will learn about public life and how to measure it in the context of the Bay Area challenges and opportunities. Topics and sessions will include: Transforming a Port – Public Life and Climate Adaptation Planning, the Future of Work-Life Balance and Mobility in Silicon Valley, and a Keynote by Founding Partner of Gehl, Helle Søholt.
